INFORMATION

The joint stock company Ventspils Grain Terminal is a Latvian-Kazakh joint venture with registered share capital of 5 `500`000 lats. The Republic of Kazakhstan is represented by the leading food grain sellers and exporters in the world market.
In autumn, 2004 the joint stock company launched construction of a dedicated grain terminal in Ventspils Freeport, the complex includes warehouses with the total capacity of 72 thousand tons, railcar and truck discharging facility, ship-loaders and other auxiliary equipment.
The capacity of the terminal is 1.5 million tons of grain annually. The deep-water pile-construction berth with depth of 14.5m gives the possibility to handle Panamax type vessels of capacity over 70 thousand tons which the neighbor ports are not able to offer. The possibility to transship large vessel lots allows the customers to reduce significantly the transportation costs and expand their export geography. In addition, Ventspils is widely regarded as a natural deep-water ice-free port capable, unlike its competitors, to ensure smooth handling of bulk carriers regardless of the weather and ice conditions.
The terminal was built using the latest technology and world-leading experience in the sphere of grain cargo handling and storage. In the result of an international tender an USA company - Agrico Sales Inc. - was chosen as the supplier of the technological equipment.
Since September, 2006 the joint stock company "Ventspils Grain Terminal" is a member of The Grain and Feed Trade Association GAFTA in the category “Approved Analysts”.
On December 3, 2007 the terminal has been certified for compliance with the international standards ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. These standards are international documents, compliance with which ensures high efficiency of production management, the most complete customer satisfaction and environmentally friendly processes.
Ventspils grain terminal is open to any customer interested in exporting grain regardless of cargo origin. Due to its competitive advantage and a balanced tariff policy Ventspils grain terminal can successfully compete with neighboring ports and attract grain shipments from Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus and Russia.
